Lauren Meehan‘s musical career ignited at an early age and became professional by age 16. Her early vocal influences arose from the classic Jazz and Swing era with iconic singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Billie Holiday. Lauren also listened to the Big Band sounds of Duke Ellington, the Dorsey Brothers and Glen Miller.
Later, modern artists such as Diana Krall and Broadway performer Linda Eder made an indelible impression on Lauren’s vocal style and sound which has stayed with her throughout her career.
Lauren has appeared in iconic jazz clubs throughout New England, down the Eastern coast and Internationally in the U.K. She has performed with the Boston Pops, the Broadway touring cast of Phantom Swings, opened for comedian Don Rickles, and appeared at the famous Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts with guest trumpeter extraordinaire Wayne Bergeron, among many other esteemed artists and ensembles. For the past several years, Lauren has often been asked to sing for special events from New York to London.
Based in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill Triangle of North Carolina, Lauren currently performs regularly with her own jazz group, the LJM Ensemble. This exciting quartet is comprised of some of the top jazz musicians in the Triangle area and appears in high-end restaurants such as the Sycamore in Pittsboro as well as special events.
Lauren’s repertoire consists of American Songbook Standards and show tunes to modern pop and gypsy jazz. As she spins tales with lyric and melody, her performances range from playful and light-hearted to sultry and passionate. And she is always authentic: she sings from her heart, and it definitely shows…
In addition to her live performances, Lauren is also featured on two Big Band Albums, Bandwidth and Time After Time, and in 2022 released her first full-length album, Nature Boy, with her LJM Ensemble.
